Joseph E. Sokoloski

Joseph E. Sokoloski joined the Jones Institute at West Penn Allegheny Health System during its formation in June 2003 as the laboratory manager.
Mr. Sokoloski has more than 20 years of experience in the field of in vitro fertilization and infertility, including more than a decade in management positions for various embryology, andrology and endocrinology laboratories. He is experienced in several infertility techniques, including intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA), fresh and cryopreserved testicular sperm extraction (TESE), and assisted hatching and fragment removal, as well as semen analysis, sperm function evaluation and the immunological assessment of couples for the presence of antisperm antibodies.
Prior to joining West Penn Allegheny Health System, Mr. Sokoloski served as a per diem consultant to a number of embryology and andrology laboratories. Previously, he served as laboratory manager at the Center for Reproductive Endocrinology, in Bedminster, New Jersey; laboratory director at The Reproductive Center in Youngstown, Ohio; and laboratory manager for Allegheny General Hospital's in vitro fertilization program.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, Mr. Sokoloski has completed numerous graduate level courses in bioengineering and has received special training in preimplantation genetic diagnosis; subzonal insertion, embryo biopsy and assisted hatching; and micromanipulation of the mammalian oocyte.
